IWA PRO WRESTLING NEW SERIES STARTS NOVEMBER 2008
Many Aussies can still remember when pro wrestling was an institution on Saturday afternoon television. The ratings were astonishing and so too was the rush for front row seats. Stars like Mario Milano, Brute Bernard and Bulldog Brower were household names. Finally, after 30 years Australian pro wrestling is back on national television. IWA Entertainment Pty Ltd is pleased to announce that IWA Pro Wrestling (Series #3) will air on the Aurora Community Channel on Foxtel and Austar cable TV networks this November. IWAs third series will see the return of Mario Milano, perhaps the most famous and well respected Australian wrestler of all time. Mario Milano, now aged 73, was a household name in Australia during the 1970s and IWA Pro Wrestling will be presenting him with a lifetime achievement award and inducting him into the IWA Hall of Fame. The latest series of IWA Pro Wrestling is a must for any self respecting wrestling fan.
International Wrestling Australia (IWA) remains one of the busiest most exciting acts on the local club showbiz circuit. IWA is a family fun, action packed live show with heavyweight matches, womens matches, tag teams and daredevils all guaranteed to blow you away. Body slamming, bone crunching, non stop sports entertainment. IWA is dishing out more fun, more action and more excitement than has ever been seen in the 100+ year old Australian pro-wrestling circuit. Above and beyond the standard live sporting event IWA Pro Wrestling adds elements of theatre, music and comedy all of which helps to make IWA shows such a stand-out, IWA's live shows are action packed with wrestling moves and the characters, plots and storylines and are exceedingly entertaining.
To date the IWA team have held over 350 pro wrestling shows in RSL Clubs, Rural Shows, Universities, Shopping Malls, Churches and other community venues across the country. The crowds range from 200–1000 per show and up to 120,000+ people per week at events like the Sydney, Melbourne & Canberra Royal Easter Shows and Wonderland Theme Park. The IWA have also toured their show overseas successfully in Tahiti and New Caledonia.
"We offer a fantastic live action adventure show for all ages" Perhaps the biggest difference between pro-wrestling and 'real' sport is that pro-wrestling openly admits to glorifying characters and embellishing storylines. says promoter Tyrone Townsend. Co-promoter and wrestler Mark Mercedes is a 15 year pro wrestling veteran who has wrestled with the big boys in the USA & Japan. Mercedes adds IWA Pro Wrestling has been Australia's #1 in sports entertainment for the past 10 years. IWAs success has surprised many and really revived pro wrestling in Australia. Want to experience it ? Everyone is welcome, you'll go in curious and come out a fan, guarantee it !
